Safari World Bangkok tickets
Two parks in one ticket — a drive-through safari where the giraffes come to the bus, and a marine park with shows. The best half day in Bangkok for children under twelve, and a complete waste of time for anyone else.
Safari Park first, Marine Park second
Safari World is on Ram Intra Road in the north-east of the city, about 45 minutes from Sukhumvit in normal traffic. The two parks sit side by side and one ticket covers both.
Safari Park is the drive-through: eight kilometres of open enclosures where zebras, giraffes, ostriches and big cats stand beside the road. You go through in your own vehicle or the park bus — with a private car it is far better, because you set the pace and the giraffes come to the window for the banana trays sold at the entrance.
Marine Park is the walk-through section: dolphin show, sea lion show, orangutan boxing, bird show, and a large number of crocodiles. It is dated in places and children love it unreservedly.
The timing mistake everyone makes
Arriving at 11:00. The animals are least active in the heat of the day, the drive-through queues, and the shows are full. Arrive at 08:00–09:00, do the safari first while it is cool, then the shows in the air-conditioned afternoon.
Skip it if
You have no children in the group, or you have already seen a safari park. The animal welfare standard is acceptable, not exemplary — the enclosures are large in the drive-through and small in the marine park. If that bothers you, an ethical elephant sanctuary is a better use of a day, and we will say so.
| Ticket | Includes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | Both parks | $40 |
| Child (90–140 cm) | Both parks | $34 |
| Under 90 cm | Both parks | Free |
| + Private car & driver | Return, drive-through included | $78 |
| + Buffet lunch | Inside the park | $14 |
The park bus is a coach with tinted windows and a fixed route. A private car goes at your speed, stops where you want, and the giraffes come to the window. It is the difference between watching an animal and meeting one.
Before you go
Buy bananas at the entrance for the giraffe section — ฿100 a tray, and worth it. Bring hats and water; the drive-through is open and hot by 10:00. The park is largely shaded in the marine section, which is where you will want to be after lunch.
Food inside is mediocre and overpriced. The buffet is acceptable with children for the convenience; otherwise eat before or after.
How long do we need?
Five to six hours for both parks without rushing. Safari Park alone is about 90 minutes; the marine shows run on a fixed schedule you will want to plan around.
Is it suitable for a two-year-old?
Yes — the drive-through is easy with a toddler and the shows are short. Bring a stroller for the marine section, and go early.
Can we combine it with the airport?
Yes, and it is a neat trick for a late flight: Safari World is on the way to Don Mueang. We can hold luggage in the car and drop you at DMK afterwards.
Is the animal welfare acceptable?
Acceptable rather than exemplary. Large drive-through enclosures, smaller ones in the marine park, and animal shows that are dated. We book it for families who want it, and we recommend a sanctuary instead if welfare is the priority.
A half day the children will remember.
We can pair the tickets with a private car so the drive-through is yours.
